ALERT completes workshops for SASTRA University - Thanjavur
ALERT along with the Indian Medical Association (IMA) conducted a daylong training [4 sessions] workshop on Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for the students participating in TECHNOVISTA 08 at Shanmuga Arts, Science, Technology and Research Academy (SASTRA), Thanjavur.
The program involved training students on the principles of Basic Life Support – Airway, Breathing and Circulation and the emergency situation caused in their absence. The program was designed to help students to know of the importance of ‘Golden Hour’ – the critical time between the event of a medical emergency and the arrival of professional assistance. CPR is a well-recognised technique to rescue victims suffering from absence of Basic Life Support.
The students were taught about CPR and were provided hands-on training on mannequins. Doctors from Indian Medical Association offered professional assistance in training the students along with the ALERT members.
